John was our business landlord until 1983/1984, when we moved from Skeltons Lane, Leyton, to Auckland Road, Leyton. He was completely honest and trustworthy. All arrangements were based upon handshakes. I was unwell in 2014 with Dengue fever, a very debilitating illness. I had “son of dengue” in 2015 and was unable to function normally. I was very weak at the time but fully recovered later. We didn’t meet during this time and JBM was becoming unwell himself. I know he felt I had let him down when we did not meet up as we were used to doing. Worse than all this I was unable to attend his funeral. My heartfelt apologies to Jill and his family.
